This past Saturday, we took our Cub Scout Pack into Los Angeles to experience the Cushman Watt Scout Center. This facility was set up for urban/ inner city scouts to have a place to safely experience scouting right in the heart of the city. The roof of the building not only has an incredible view of the L.A. skyline, but is a similation of the wilderness. Scouts can actually camp right on the roof.
Our scouts had the opportunity to earn three belt loops (which is what they earn instead of badges at this age) that day:
marbles...
badmitton...
map and compass...
They also got to play around on the rock wall...
The view from the roof...
The benefits of scouting have been endless for Davin. I see us involved for years to come.

An Eagle Scout in the making, I'm sure!
How old was he when you started him? Did he do Cub Scouts?
Davin started this past year in first grade...that is the earliest that Cub Scouts can begin. He will remain a Cub Scout until 5th grade. Then in 6th grade, if he chooses, he will bridge to Boy Scouts. Eagle Scout would be a big undertaking but if he is willing, I would love to see him through.
how cool!
i'm looking forward to doing stuff like this with my boys..;)
Oh that looks like it was so much fun! Cole can't wait to start up again. I am so glad Davin loves it so much!
