cake boss.

Its the annual Cub Scout cake auction time.  An oozing, dry ice, red lava-exploding kind of volcano cake is in the works this year.

More pics coming tomorrow.

saturday school.

...brought my helper along to draw on the white boards, play with playdoh, eat snacks, and watch all the old VHS tapes in my video closet.  Meanwhile I got so much done!  I have countertops in Room 20 once again!

post op.

Everything went smooth.  A little sedation, a Happy Meal on the ride home, and a few hours of T.V. time was the perfect rememdy to get Davin back on his feet again today.  He's a champ.

numb.

Toothaches on both sides of his mouth landed Davin in this special seat today.  His first cavities.  Best solution: just yank them out.

Not so fast.

Eight shots of anesthesia later, and Davin could still feel the pain.  His tears worked a soft spot on Dr. Perri's heart. Not wanting to traumatize him, off to the oral surgeon we'll go to have those rotten teeth removed in a much more relaxed (sedated) fashion.
As if losing 6 on his own over the last 10 days wasn't enough.  What's 2 more holes in that mouth?

Bling.

All of the Brazilian gifts came wrapped in these festive colored ribbons from Bahia.  The ribbons found on the streets of Salvador have "Lembrança do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia" printed on them. Translated from Portuguese, the phrase roughly means In Remembrance of the Savior of Bahia or Souvenir from the God of Bahia—or something along those lines.  Long story short... you tie the ribbons on your wrist and make a wish.  Once the ribbon falls off your wish should come true.  Your wish is to remain condfidential.
In true six year-old Avery fashion, she divulged her wish to Aunt Lisa.

She'd like a sister and a bunk bed.  Thank goodness for Ikea.

in the mood.

Things are getting a little hearty around here.

what a weekend.

Friday night Lisa & Frank flew in from San Francisco so that we could see, taste, hear all about their 17 day Brazilian vacation.  We sipped on Brazilian rum-based Caipirihnas and enjoyed the picture slideshow of their adventures.  They spoiled us with souvenirs and momentos from their trip.

Davin spent every spare moment this weekend inside his Giga Ball that we found on the Target Clearance toy aisle. Hours of rolling good times.
With my camera left back at home, Lisa and I snapped a quick moment together using my phone at mom's house.  This is as good as it gets for day 23.  Not as hard to say good bye this time around since she'll be back in 3 weeks for our photography workshop we've signed up to take together.  Can't wait.

rollin' back.

 Walmart.

Shopping for discounted/ clearance toys to raffle off at the Valentine's Dance in a few weeks.
This was Davin the entire time.  Throughout the entire store.  When a cart would come in his direction, he would just hula hoop himself out of their way.  That's just Davin.  He's a I could care less type of kid.

And has been since day one.

checking out.

Fresh 'n Easy fundraiser for my school.  the kids came along and helped bag groceries for appreciative customers.  I think only a few packages of cookies were broken along the way.

And maybe an egg.  Or two.

going going gone.

Nanny McPhee has finally left the building.  And Davin is getting richer by the moment.

holiday.

We loved every minute of this 80 degree, bicycle-riding, laundry-folding, Christmas light-wrapping, baseboard-cleaning, grocery-getting, newborn picture-taking, giveaway-granting day off from work & school.

Thank you MLK jr.

two ties.

These ball boys got their first taste of a Villa Park Varsity Football Banquet.  I had one request throughout this 5 hour event: stay awake.  And so they did.
