Purple Pride

The results are in...just look at these proud 6th graders with their tie-dyed shirts...This is my Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies classes.
These are my Honors students. It was such a blast catching glances of purple tie-dye all over campus on Friday. This is a project I will do with my students for years to come!

To "DYE" for

For Valentine's Day, my two classes tie-dyed shirts to wear for "purple dress" day on Fridays. The kids all brought their own t-shirts and tank tops. They used rubber bands for the tieing, Then let them soak in 5 gallon buckets full of dark purple RIT dye. After 30 minutes of soaking...these were our results. Stay tuned for our first matching Friday!

Kernville, pop.1800

Just back from our 3rd annual Ancich family trip to Kernville, Ca. The town was celebrating its 151st Annual Whiskey Flat River Days. We had so much fun eating bratwurst, pastrami, and baked potatoes. Also watching the parade, which was pretty much every resident in the town in their old, not-so-fixed up car. There were cowboys shooting guns, and frog jumping contests. We made our way down to Kern River where Hunter got to try his luck at fishing- not so lucky! The kids had a blast getting some good cousin time. We look forward to next year's trip.

Out Our Front Door...

I Caught them.

They still don't even know I snapped this picture of them. They also didn't know I heard their conversation either...

Our high school neighbor got her car windows painted by her boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I overheard Hunter and Davin discussing the idea that one day "Would they have to paint their girlfriends' car windows?"

Hunter said he would...Davin said he won't have a girlfriend so he doesn't ever have to paint her windows. He also followed his statement with, "girlfriends are wierd!"

I love being a double-O-7 mom!

Food for thought

Dinner time is one of my favorite times of the week. We have our routine down to a science... Prayers...usually followed by arguments over who gets to say them...so after 3 different prayers...the meal.

Then we go around the table and everyone gets a chance to share out about their day...the good, the bad...and sometimes the ugly. So much more comes out at the dinner table than it does on the drive home from school.
Life is busy with two full-time working parents and three students. I can imagine without dinnertime, there would be many days we'd miss out on hearing all the small stuff. I treasure our family meals together.
