in the end...
what a week. 3 Back to School Nights in a row...Tuesday: Kindergarten, Wednesday: 4th grade, and tonight: 2nd grade. Lots of great teachers with very big plans for the year. Behavior plans, consequences, state standards, benchmarks, spelling tests, no time for science and social studies, 50 minutes of P.E. a week, how to drop off your child, the "just right" school supplies, how to pick up your child, email addresses, chapter books, fat crayons, skinny crayons, colored pencils, learning to tie your shoes, wear red on Friday, have exact change when buying lunch, don't walk your child in through the gate, join PTSA, donate to the disaster fund, Student of the Month, reading logs, spirit tickets, math pages torn from a workbook, parent signatures, and don't forget soccer and dance practice.
But in the end, I really and truly just want my kids to be good people. Nice. People. Kind. People. Caring. People. It's not complicated.
