Cave Art

One of my favorite activities of the year in class is the Cave Art. We spend the week prior to the activity reading about early man and his expression through cave art. On the final day, the kids bring flashlights, head lamps, and brown paper bags. We turn the desks over, cover the windows to create darkness, and I play a "sounds of the cave" CD...yes, that really exists! The kids then journey back in time 30,000 years using chalks, pastels, and crayons to create their own original work of ancient art.
